This pattern also called as Present Tense (Nominal) and used to present time, future time, habit and fact ( general fact). Subject or complement can be formed as a Gerund/ing-form (4,5) or To Infinitive (3). Basic of Gerund or To Infinitive is a verb, but because its position as a subject or complement, so it can be noun. The adverb of this pattern are now, tomorrow, always, today.
Short Conversations:
A          : How are you today, Tom?
B          : I am fine, thanks. How is your mother?
A          : She is sick.
B          : I am sorry to hear that.

A          : Why are you often late, Jack?
B          : Because my house is far.
A          : How far is your hause from school?
B          : It is about twenty kilometers.

A          : Is your father a teacher?
B          : Yes, he is.
A          : How old is he?
B          : He is forty years old.

A          : Where are you from?
B          : I am from west kalimantan.

A          : Our English teacher is good looking, gifted, and friendly.
B          : Not only that. He is helpful and kind, too.

HOBBY
Nita      : What is your hobby, Tom?
Tomi     : My hobby is playing badminton.
Nita      : O, that’s interesting. Playing badminton is easy, isn’t it?
Tomi     : To say is easy, to do is difficult.
Nita      : I am just kidding. How many time do you play badminton?
Tomi     : Twice a week. How about you? What is your hobby?
Nita      : My hobby is reading.
Tomi     : No wonder. You are the cleaverest student in the class.
Nita      : Don’t exaggerate!
Tomi     : I tell the truth. You are dilligent, smart, friendly, and helpful.
Nita      : Thanks for your compliment.
Tomi     : Reading is important. It can enlarge our knowledge.
Nita      : You are right. Sport is important, too. Health is expensive.
Tomi     : Yes, both activities are necessary for us. They are positive activities.
