Kind of Degree of Comparison

1.     Positive Degree

→ S + P + As adjectivde / adverb as

Example :

-           He is as careful as my mother ( adjective )

-          He speaks ascarefully as my mother (adverb)

-          Can you send me the money as soon as possible , please!

2.     Comparative degree 

S + P + Adjective / adverb –er

S + P + More Adjective / adverb

Short adjective and adverb

Cheap / Cheaper        Hard / Harder

Large / larger              Thin / Thinner

e-g.      The  jacket is too small,  I need a larger size

Two syllabel adjective ending in –y

Lucky / lucker                         Funny / Funnie

Pretty / prether           Easy / Easier

e.g.      The examination is easieir then we expected

Two syllable and longer syllable

More Modern                         More serious

More expensive          More comportable

e.g.      Her illness was more serious than we at first bhought

Adjective adverb which end in –ly

More slowly                More seriously

More Quietly              More carefully

e.g       Could you speak more slowly please !

3.     Superlative Degree

S + P + Adj –est / Most adjective or

S + P + The Adverb –est / more adverb

-est for shoker word

Example :    hot / hottest                    Hard / harder

  Long / longest                       Easy / easier   

→Yesterday  was the hottest day of the year

Most for longer word

Example :        Most famous               Most boring

Most difficult               Most expensive

→That was the most boring film I’v ever seen
